I'm sure all of us know someone with "autophobic disorder" or simply put a motornut with a compulsive tendency to chop, lower, primer, bondo, candy, flake, etc till the victim becomes totally wrecked by the norm society standards. Mostly these nuts are in denial despite the elbow grease, black fingers and sometimes a mullet. Dats why its a phobia as the main force that drives these nuts into a total blown manifold gasket is fear. Fear of mobility thus freedom and mostly fear of being "not cool"
